Joan of Arcadia is a television show aired on the CBS Television network from September 2003 through April 2005. Created by Barbara Hall, the show followed the exploits of Joan Girardi, a teenage girl who talks to God. During its two season run, Joan of Arcadia was acclaimed by critics and selected for many awards including a 2004 Emmy® nomination as television's Best Drama. After the 2005 season, however, the show was cancelled by CBS due to low ratings and lack of viewership among younger viewers. Fans campaigns imploring the network to change its mind about cancellation were ultimately unsuccessful. Although the show has been out of production for several years, Joan of Arcadia is still lauded for its unique premise and also having served as a career launching pad for the show's young actors and creative team. |

Joan of Arcadia.com was launched in conjunction with the show's premiere in the fall of 2003. Ownership changed hands several months later and has been maintained by the same staff since that time. Upon the show's cancellation the site was at the forefront of fan campaigns to resurrect the show. When these efforts did not come to fruition, staffers decided to keep the site active to serve as a show archive and to encourage further discourse amongst the show's fan base.
